Employee health clinic and joining governmental insurance pool among topics at next Decatur City Council meeting

Among the 13 agenda items to be discussed at the next city council meeting include votes on renewal or replacement of city’s general liability, workers compensation, and other coverages and joining a governmental insurance pool for some of the coverages.  By joining an insurance pool, it is estimated that the city will save approximately $300,000 in 2021.  The city council will also be holding a study session regarding the possibility of establishing an employee health clinic.  The establishment of an employee clinic is expected to increase the health of our employees and their families and thereby reduce total claims over time.  The next meeting will take place on Monday, September 21 at 5:30 PM in the Decatur Civic Center Theater.

Meetings take place at the Theater located on the second floor of the Decatur Civic Center (1 Gary K. Anderson Place).  Free parking is available in the lot immediately south of the entrance.  Citizens are encouraged to attend meetings and express their views.  Citizens are allotted 3 minutes per person near the beginning of each city council meeting.  In addition, citizens can provide comments regarding one regular agenda item per meeting for up to three minutes provided they notify the city in advance (and prior to the start of the meeting).  You can request to speak on a particular agenda item at a council meeting by filling out an on-line form at:
